As part of the UK Young Academy’s programme for member development, and as requested by many UK Young Academy members, we are excited to offer the following training aimed at improving leadership skills. In this two-day programme, you will be introduced to all aspects of leadership, followed by an optional 90-minute webinar in which you can offer your reflections on applying what you have learnt.
This tailor-made programme, provided by Imperial Business School, will offer key insights and tools for all emerging leaders, regardless of sector or field. Prior to the event, you will complete an online questionnaire, which will include the Big Five Inventory of personality traits. You will subsequently receive a report in which your individual scores are presented alongside the combined group data to offer personalised feedback. The first day of the training will focus primarily on individual leadership, inviting you to explore the leadership style best suited to your personality, to understand potential cognitive biases, and to examine how best to manage and motivate yourself. Following this, you will examine leadership in its wider contexts: influencing and negotiating with others, managing upwards and navigating challenging conversations, and creating high-performing teams.
