I want to make sure that political science research is useful for those people who are already working hard to address complex societal issues.
Bio
Anthony Kevins is a political scientist studying the link between public opinion and the actions and decisions of policymakers. Anthony’s research has examined how politicians shape public opinion with the language they use, the consultations they launch, and the reforms they support – in the process making certain policy solutions more or less difficult to enact in the future. He is especially interested in using public opinion data and survey experiments to investigate how governments and elected representatives can work to break political gridlock on so-called “wicked problems” – such as climate change and inequality – by turning to their citizenries. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Studies at Loughborough University’s School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and has previously worked at Aarhus University’s Department of Political Science and the Utrecht University School of Governance. He holds a PhD in Political Science from McGill University.
