Bio

Jennifer Clarke is the operations leader for the Chief Scientist Directorate at National Physical Laboratory (NPL). She joined in 2017 working across the organisation to deliver collaborations across the international research landscape. She is now the operations leader for the Chief Scientist, working across strategy development, operational implementation and associated governance. She is passionate about advocating for opportunities for early-career scientists, and enabling effective science communication and international collaborations.

Originally a chemical oceanographer, Jennifer previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on developing and testing instrumentation to measure carbon dioxide, pH, and other associated parameters in situ in marine environments. She collaborated internationally both with other academics and industry, taking part in international research cruises, fieldwork, and conferences. She was one of 25 future oceanography leaders selected for the DISCO XXV.

Jennifer is a keen STEM ambassador and a school governor for the Richmond on Thames School.
