I wish to share my experience and research, contributing to activities that can respond to current societal challenges, inform public policy and support UK Young Academy's aims.

Bio

Ruth Bowness is an Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Award Holder, an Associate Editor for the Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, and a guest Editor for a special issue on COVID-19 modelling in the Journal of Mathematical Biology. Her research focuses on mathematical modelling of infectious diseases within the human host, where she uses differential equations and individual-based models to mimic disease progression and simulate novel treatment strategies. Currently, her main projects relate to tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2. Ruth also sits on the Department Equality and Diversity Committee and is a ‘Wellbeing Champion’ for the University.
