As part of the UK Young Academy, I look forward to interdisciplinary collaboration to drive technological advancements for a sustainable future.

Bio

Takashi is an EPSRC Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, where he develops luminescent microreactors that harvest the full solar spectrum. His work aims to enable efficient off‑grid production of sustainable fuels and chemicals. He is also a Chartered Scientist, Chartered Engineer, and Director of Studies in Materials Science (Corpus Christi College).

Takashi’s background spans materials science, chemistry, and physics. He completed a PhD on microreactors for studying light‑driven reactions, followed by postdoctoral work on waveguide‑encoded polymer films that enhance photovoltaic performance under ambient lighting. He later worked at Microsoft Research, using ultrafast lasers to write data into glass for sustainable archival storage. His wider interest is in light‑responsive materials that support the net‑zero energy transition.

Takashi is committed to widening participation through mentoring and previously served as a director of Project Access International, a charity dedicated to ensuring that passion and potential, not background, shape a person’s future.
