Bio

Jamie Nash is a Post‑Doctoral Research Scientist and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)‑registered Biomedical Scientist at the Welsh Blood Service. He began his BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2015 before completing his PhD in 2022, specialising in platelet components for transfusion, including work on cold‑stored platelets and storage conditions. His contributions to the field were recognised with the Scott Murphy Memorial Lectureship Award from the Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion Collaborative in 2022. Jamie’s current research focuses on developing blood components for pre‑hospital treatment of major bleeding.

He is actively involved in national leadership roles, serving on the British Society of Haematology Research and Grants Committee, the editorial board of the British Journal of Biomedical Science, and the Council of the British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS). He also founded the BBTS Early Career Professionals Committee.

A national science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Ambassador, Jamie is committed to inspiring the next generation of transfusion professionals.
