Bio
Jamie Nash is a Lead Specialist in Manufacturing Development and a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)‑registered Biomedical Scientist at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). He completed his PhD in 2022 specialising in platelet components for transfusion, including work on cold‑stored platelets and storage conditions. His contributions to the field were recognised with the Scott Murphy Memorial Lectureship Award from the Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion Collaborative in 2022. Jamie’s current role involves developing novel initiatives and implementing change within blood component manufacturing to improve quality and patient outcomes.
He is actively involved in national leadership roles, serving on the editorial board of the British Journal of Biomedical Science, and the Council of the British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS). He also founded the BBTS Early Career Professionals Committee.
A national science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Ambassador, Jamie is committed to inspiring the next generation of transfusion professionals.
