I aspire to champion research reproducibility and mentor diverse scientific talent, catalysing positive change in how we conduct, communicate, and apply scientific knowledge.

Bio

Kif Liakath-Ali is a Lecturer in Advanced Cell Biology and a group leader at the University of Southampton, appointed in May 2024, whose research focuses on understanding ribonucleic acid (RNA) splicing in mammalian neurons. Kif completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge (2015) under Professor Fiona Watt FRS. His work advanced our understanding of stem cell regulation in mammalian skin.

In 2018, Kif joined the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Professor Thomas Südhof ForMemRS at Stanford University for his postdoctoral training, holding EMBO and the Hillblom fellowships. In September 2022, he was appointed as an Instructor in Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford. His postdoctoral research revealed key insights into synaptic molecules’ role in learning and memory.

Kif has received multiple awards recognizing his scientific contributions, including a RaRe Researcher Award, the Star Mentor Award from Stanford University. He serves on the Early Career Investigator Advisory Board for the journal Nucleic Acids Research.
