Bio
Mojtaba Abdi-Jalebi is an Associate Professor and research group leader at University College London (UCL), where he works on next-generation materials for clean energy. His research focuses on creating new, low-cost semiconductors—materials that convert light into electricity—to make solar panels more efficient and affordable. He also develops technologies that use sunlight to capture carbon dioxide and produce clean fuels. He earned his doctorate from the University of Cambridge and was previously a Research Fellow at Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory. He is a passionate advocate for turning laboratory discoveries into real-world applications and is a co-founder of a start-up company developing miniature solar energy harvesters. Mojtaba is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and a member of the Global Young Academy, reflecting his standing as a leader in materials science and commitment to global scientific collaboration.
