Bio
Tin Tin Naing is a geologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. She completed her BSc and MSc at the University of Yangon, Myanmar. She has also held a research fellowship at ETH Zürich, before earning her PhD at the University of Oxford.
Tin Tin’s research explores how mineral resources form in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on critical minerals such as tin, tungsten, and rare earth elements. These minerals are essential for technologies including renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and electronic devices. By studying the geological history of these resources, Tin Tin aims to improve our understanding of where they occur and how they can be explored responsibly. Her work supports more sustainable management of natural resources and contributes to the transition towards a low-carbon future.
