Bio

Tom Livermore is the Head of Science Policy at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where he leads a team which leverages uses Kew’s scientific expertise to provide evidence-based advice which bridges research and policy to protect biodiversity and support the wellbeing of people and the planet.

He has worked at the interface of science and policy for ten years. Prior to joining Kew in 2024, he worked at the Academy of Medical Sciences for eight years, where he led a team focused on improving the research environment for health research.

His interests are in evidence-based policy advice across a range of environmental policy areas, including the Convention of Biological Diversity, wildlife trade, bioeconomy and domestic environmental policy.
Tom’s academic background is in biochemistry, in which he received a PhD in 2016.
