Gaming the System
For this session, we welcome game designer Matteo Menapace, who will present two case studies on ‘serious games’ as part of our member-led series of online webinars.
The UK Young Academy is excited to host our fifth online webinar as part of a member-led series featuring guest speakers from diverse backgrounds in areas of expertise. For this session on Tuesday 13 November from 12-1pm, we welcome game designer Matteo Menapace, who will present two “serious games” case studies:
- Daybreak, a cooperative board game about stopping climate change, co-designed with Matt Leacock.
- Systemic, a game workshop for applying systems thinking to policy design, developed with Policy Lab.
Beyond entertainment, games are a powerful medium to simulate complex systems and facilitate problem-solving in a safe and playful space. Menapace will share key lessons learned, and weave in prompts for you to incorporate games (in particular, cooperative games) and playfulness in your work.
This event is part of the UK Young Academy’s wider webinar series on special interest topics. It is coordinated by members, for members. The session will be recorded, in line with the UK Young Academy’s Privacy policy.
