Occupation: Researcher at Microsoft Research

As part of the UK Young Academy, I look forward to interdisciplinary collaboration to drive technological advancements for a sustainable future.

Bio

Takashi is a Researcher at Microsoft Research. He is exploring a cloud storage technology that uses femtosecond lasers to store data in glass. He is also a Chartered Scientist, Chartered Engineer, and Director of Studies in Materials Science at Corpus Christi College (Cambridge).

As an interdisciplinary scientist, Takashi completed a PhD from the University of Cambridge on the development of microreactors for monitoring photocatalytic reactions and a postdoctoral project on waveguide-encoded polymer films for improving the performance of photovoltaic cells under ambient lighting. In general, Takashi’s interests lie in light-responsive materials for the net-zero energy transition.

Takashi supports the engagement of underrepresented audiences through mentoring and is the former director of Project Access International, a charity committed to creating a world where passion and potential define a young person’s future.
