Bio

Antonia Liguori is a Professor of Participatory Storytelling and Public Policy at the School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Law at Teesside University, UK. Over her career, she has had the privilege to experience a very diverse and exciting pathway, both in the heritage and the media sector in Italy, and in academia in the UK. She earned her PhD in History and Computer Science from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 2005. Since then, she has been involved in a variety of international research projects and collaborative partnerships that brought her to travel every continent, developing tools and methods to foster innovation in education; explore the role of storytelling and memories in today’s digital world, and investigate and trial ways of using digital storytelling as a participatory methodology for interdisciplinary research. Over the past five years her research has been focusing on three main strands: applied storytelling on environmental issues; digital storytelling for inclusive education; storytelling, sense of place and cultural values.
