For this first session on 19 April from 12 – 1pm (GMT), we will be welcoming Rupert Lewis (Chief Science Policy Officer from the Royal Society) for a conversation on exploring the intricacies of the policy landscape and working with policy makers.

Rupert currently leads a team who work on critical issues across climate, biosphere, innovation, emerging technologies, data, science policy, education, and has provided rapid expert advice to Government on SARS-Cov-2. With over 20 years of experience working in the policy field, Rupert brings a diverse perspective – offering insights that bridge both sides of the policy-making fence. He will share insights into working with decision makers and the importance of establishing collaborative efforts with those involved in formulating policy.

Prior to working at the Royal Society, Rupert was head of the Government Office for Science (GO-Science) which supports the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser. His previous roles also include head of Automotive policy, deputy Chief Scientific Adviser (BIS), and head of Climate Adaptation policy.

This event is part of the UK Young Academy’s wider webinar series on special interest topics. It is coordinated by members, for members. The session will be recorded, in line with the UK Young Academy’s Privacy policy
