Bio

Abdalrhaman (Abdo) is an Oxon materials scientist. Originally from Al Goled, Sudan; he completed a BSc at the Sudan University of Science and Technology before taking five years working break from academia to fund his next venture, an MSc at the University of Manchester, which he completed with distinction.

Abdo then started and finished a PhD at the University of Oxford, looking into the degradation of materials and how the microscopic intrinsic properties can be improved. During that time, Abdo was elected the Junior Dean of St Cross College, Oxford and won MPLS Division Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Fund to fund the ‘BAME Stories Library’.

Abdo moved to the National Physical Laboratory, where he continues to break things under the pretence of ‘studying the micro-mechanics of materials’. He is also an (expert) Wikipedia editor and (amateur) chess player.
