Bio

As a PhD researcher at Birkbeck University of London, Alzira explores ethnic politics in Russia using qualitative methods to understand how government policies shape the daily lives of ethnic minorities. Alzira’s work examines questions of identity, inequality and belonging connecting policy decisions with lived realities. Before starting their PhD, Alzira was a lecturer and researcher in Russia, where they designed academic courses and contributed to research projects.

Outside of academia, Alzira is interested in making research more accessible and encouraging conversations that connect academic insights with broader discussions on social inclusion and change.
