Bio

Juliette Unwin is a Lecturer in Statistical Science in the School of Mathematics at the University of Bristol. She is a truly interdisciplinary academic with an MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering specialising in sustainable energy, a PhD in uncertainty quantification of engineering systems and a postdoc and Imperial College Research Fellowship developing infectious disease transmission models for outbreaks such as Ebola, COVID-19 and malaria in near-elimination regions.

Juliette is interested in developing and applying novel methods for infectious disease outbreak analysis to help inform policy makers in real time. She is passionate about capacity building and knowledge transfer with organisations in countries where she works such as Cambodia, Malawi, Rwanda and South Africa.  Her current research focuses on developing spatial temporal renewal based transmission models alongside improving the life of children affected by crises through linking science to evidence-based action.
