Occupation: Senior Lecturer in Interaction Design at University of Southampton

I think the UK Young Academy should be helping organisations and the government to reduce inequalities that have increased considerably after the pandemic by providing a platform to support inclusive change.

Bio

Vanissa Wanick is a UX Designer, Researcher and Educator. She studies how games influence people’s behaviour and decision-making. She has been in the academic field since 2017 (since completing her PhD), but she previously worked in the design industry – since 2006. Currently, her main area of work involves many aspects of design education and practice – particularly in the area of games design and Human-computer interaction. She is very interested in working with underrepresented groups and deprived communities. She also has an entrepreneurial ‘hat’, as she wishes to bridge the gap between industry and academia – and perhaps channel more opportunities for these groups to develop their own ideas and skills.
