Bio

Stuart Higgins is a Research Fellow at the University of York. He is an interdisciplinary scientist, leading the Complex Interface Team. His research group focuses on the role of electrical signals and processes in living systems, and how it can be sensed and stimulated using bespoke electronics. This work aims to understand how these electrical mechanisms work, as part of developing new therapeutics for healthcare.

Stuart incorporates improving research culture within his practice, including producing the podcast ‘Scientists not the Science,’ which features interviews with 70+ people in science-related professions, exploring fundamental themes and challenges within academia. He also has an interest in evidence-based public engagement for reaching underserved audiences.
