Driving innovation with three new member-led projects

Primary label: News

The UK Young Academy is proud to announce the launch of three innovative, member-led projects that aim to tackle key local and global challenges. These projects support our Strategic Plan (2023–2028) and align with the strategic priorities identified by our members as areas for action: amplifying underrepresented voices, leveraging technology for sustainability, combating climate change, and empowering early-career professionals.

Each of these projects reflects our commitment to the priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan, while highlighting the unique expertise of our members. Tackling complex challenges requires collaboration across sectors and disciplines, and these projects demonstrate how bringing diverse perspectives together can drive progress.

Our new projects:

Health OpenSpaces – Aims to amplify underrepresented voices in healthcare research by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, patients, and advocacy groups. It ensures diverse perspectives are heard and valued while establishing a sustainable framework for future healthcare dialogues.

Making Waves –  Takes the first steps towards incorporating an understanding of marine life and food-webs within the UK secondary school curricula. By co-designing inclusive educational resources, it aims to empower the next generation to engage with and address environmental challenges.

Science and Technology Diplomacy in a Changing World – Aims to provide early-career professionals with a platform to shape science and technology diplomacy, this project promotes international collaboration on emerging technologies. It empowers young professionals to influence global sustainability efforts and advocate for responsible innovation.
