Bio

Amit Pujari is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hertfordshire. He is an award-winning biomedical engineer and a neuroscientist, primarily researching the development of rehabilitation and assistive technologies for people living with neurological disorders such as stroke, spinal injury, cerebral palsy, and so on.

To ensure that the devices he develops satisfy the needs of their end users, Amit works closely with patients, carers, clinicians, and relevant industries. He is focused on ensuring that the technology he develops is low-cost and affordable, especially for use in the ‘global south’, for which purpose he collaborates extensively with researchers internationally. Through these collaborations, Amit has a great deal of experience in working with a range of stakeholders crossing disciplinary and geographic boundaries.

Amit is also a passionate and experienced science communicator, with significant experience of engaging with the general public about his research and science in general. He is a passionate believer in the transformative potential of science and technology to change society for better.
