Christoph Nehrbass-Ahles is a Senior Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, the UK’s National Metrology Institute. His current focus involves enhancing global data comparability of atmospheric observations and creating a robust system for greenhouse gas source attribution. In his previous role as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Borysiewicz Fellow at the University of Cambridge, he worked on innovative method development for high-precision ice core gas measurements to assess the stability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet and its potential for sea level rise over the coming centuries. He completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Bern, where he focussed on reconstructing the atmospheric CO2 levels over the past 800’000 years based on tiny bubbles trapped in Antarctic ice.
