“Timor Sharan is a Senior Associate Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, University of Exeter. His research focuses on the relationship between international military intervention, transnational financial flows, violence, and the political economy of international state-building.
Previously, Timor served as the International Crisis Group’s Senior Analyst for Afghanistan and as an Adjunct Professor at the American University of Afghanistan. He has also provided advice to governments and international organizations, including USAID, GIZ, and the Open Society Foundations.
Timor is a leading policy voice on Afghanistan, having written policy articles for Foreign Policy, Politico, and other reputable outlets. He has also published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Central Asia Survey and Conflict Security and Development.
Timor holds a PhD from the University of Exeter and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. Apart from his academic achievements, he is also a skilled cook and enjoys carpet weaving.
